The Latin Night is a steaming hot party that you can normaly only find in Latin-America. This fridaynight the Op Roakeldais-partyarea trasforms in a Latin Club!
You think you are in Medellín, Santiago, Caracas or Mexico City!
Quique
From Amsterdam Enrique Ebbink, alias QUIQUE, is a talent on the rise. In recent years he has set many stages on fire, achieved millions of plays and reached fans with his original tracks. Now, with a backpack full of hits, an impressive show at Lowlands and a sold-out one tour in November 2023 was a great success for QUIQUE.
QUIQUE moves on stage and in the studio as an artist between Latin pop and hip hop. He has developed a unique sound and a melodic, bilingual flow in Spanish and in recent years Dutch, with which his cheerful tracks will no longer be limited. QUIQUE has only one goal: to get his listeners out of the daily grind and if possible dancing. The bilingual talent can do this even when he addresses serious themes in his texts.
QUIQUE grew up in Amsterdam as the child of a Dutch father and a Colombian mother. In a family where dance and music are central, he soon got his hands on a guitar, went to music school as a child and became a student at the Herman Brood Academy. Thanks to his family in Colombia, he got to know Latin American music culture; the latinpop and reggaeton. ‘My family in the Netherlands and Colombia also encouraged me in Spanish to start writing,” he says. ‘And that’s how I rediscovered my Colombian self.’ It didn’t stop there: in Amsterdam he also delved into Dutch hip hop. He organized parties with friends and occasionally took the microphone itself. During that period he decided to really go for it and all musical puzzle pieces quickly into place.
His development in the field of writing and singing then gained momentum justifiably. In 2018 he won the talent competition Fuego of channel FunX with the song Bici, which it exploded on YouTube and became a first hit for him. The following year he released the EP Tú out and then QUIQUE was also discovered live: he was able to play at festivals such as Woo Hah!, Down the Rabbit Hole and the Latin festival Fiesta Macumba.
Many musicians have had a hard time during the corona years and it was also a tough time for Enrique. No shows, no ‘Energía’ from the crowd – something he lives for as a performer and charges himself with. Fortunately, his fans were eager to see him live again, his 3 own concerts in 2022 were sold out very quickly. With new material such as the Top 40 hit ‘Camino’, ‘Tu Sabes’ and ‘¡UP!’, QUIQUE, together with his band, sets the bar sky-high for his live shows! Enrique has used the energy that splashes off the stage at festivals such as Paaspop, Concert At Sea, Liberation Festival and not to forget, Lowlands.
In November 2023 he sold out his own ‘Noviembre’ tour and visited venues such as Doornroosje in Nijmegen, Tivoli in Utrecht, Simplon in Groningen and Paard in The Hague. He gave in early 2024 a great band show at the Noorderslag festival, where he established himself once and for all as a real stage animal. 3voor12 also noticed this and wrote the following in their favorable review: ”This is really FUN. The type of pop show that would make you forget that you have a huge hangover in the afternoon at a Pinkpop or Lowlands, have been on an air mattress for three nights and operate on four hours of sleep.”
After this series of highlights, the spring of 2024 will be all about his debut album, with music that, according to him, says everything about who he is: ‘El Colombolandés’.
