Native Pride Productions – The Robinson Family
Larry Yazzie is the founder and artistic director of Native Pride Productions, based out of Jacksonville, Florida. He is a two-time World Champion Fancy Dancer, Men’s Northern Traditional Dancer and Eagle Dancer. Larry grew up in the Meskwaki settlement in Tama, Iowa, where he knows the traditional ways of his ancestors. Native Pride Productions will travel to Op Roakeldais with 6 Indians. The Robinson family is coming to participate with the whole family especially for Op Roakeldais. They are proud representatives of Indian culture and have shared it all worldwide.
Native Pride Productions was founded to give back to the community and to the world. As an international teacher, dancer and pedagogue, Larry also plays the flute and hand drum and sings as part of his repertoire. He has an obscure reputation for being one of the nation’s foremost experts on Native American dance and has received many honors and awards in honor of his work.
The goal of Native Pride Productions is to share cultural traditions through artist-in-residency workshops, performances, lectures, classroom education and theater performances, increasing access to diverse, multicultural artists for people of all ages and backgrounds. His warm, enthusiastic spirit truly inverted the beauty of the native people. In following the tradition of his elders, he gives back and controls the lives of all target groups for the definitive generations.
“Feel the rhythm of the drum, experience the hypnotic power of dance and enjoy the rhythm of the music as the cultural history, traditions, beliefs and spiritual importance of indigenous peoples are produced”
